When it rains, it pours

Sometimes when you hear the phrase "When it rains, it pours" some people are talking figuratively. Well, in this case I'm talking quite literally. The past 2 months in Cedar it has rained nearly everyday and it rains quite heavily. Well, my parents have been needing their roof re roofed for quite sometime now. Their contractor came over this past week and started tearing off all the shingles, well, when he left for the night he didn't cover the roof with any kind of tarp or anything. And yes, you see where this story is going. It down poured all night long. My parents woke up at 4 in the morning to their entire house being completely soaked on the inside. Including (which has been the worst part for my mom) my moms $25,000 grand piano. It was filled with water. It's completely ruined. The water has spread to every room in their entire three story house except for the kitchen, the laundry room, and our basement. All other rooms have some sort of damage done to it. It's a HUGE mess. They are going to have to replace walls, carpets, the ceiling pillars, the piano, and the list goes on and on. It will probably be unlivable for 4-6 weeks while they try to get everything fixed. Possibly even longer. We have been going back and forth all week trying to help out and see what we can do. They had a lot of things ruined. Derek even spent one evening on the roof with my dad and the roofer trying to re roof the house before it started raining again and doing more damage to the inside of the house. Its been a crazy week. Here are a few pictures of the damage.

This picture doesn't do much justice because our piano guy put the piano back together (for the most part) but before this each individual key was taken out to dry and it was completely torn apart. Its playable but it doesn't sound that great.
My parents have these huge fans all over the house trying to dry out the walls and carpets and everything. You kind of have to yell to be able to hear each other with all the fan noise going on.
This is part of the upstairs they have started to rip apart because the dry wall was completely soaked. They have a huge humidifier in the rooms too to try and get some of the moister out. They are going to have to tear out several walls in our house. This is the beginning of it.
My parents have tried to stuff a lot of their furniture into some smaller bedrooms. My mom is going to be selling a lot of the furniture that is in here. Not because its ruined, but because they are just probably going to be remodeling a lot of things.
There are spots all around the house where they have the carpet torn up or lifted up to dry it out. This is my old room. Its sad to see my house in such bad shape.
You can't see very well in this picture, but these are the main ceilings as you walk into our house. They have water spots all down them and are pretty ruined. They are going to have to sand down all the wood pieces and re stain all of the wood. Its going to be a long process.

I've been back to work for a couple weeks now, but tomorrow is the first day that my kids are coming so it should be a very busy and interesting week. I'm excited though. It will be fun.

Derek starts fall semester tomorrow as well. He has a really busy schedule ahead of him. I also start my online classes through USU this Tuesday and I hear it is a very demanding class so I'm a bit nervous. Other than that life is good and we are so blessed with all the things that come our way in our life. Until next week.
